Walking The Thames Day 19

5.8 mi Wallingford to Dorchester

Another totally foggy day, but no rain. I wonder if seasonal affective disorder is prevalent here.
We've started meeting other through hikers (those walking the entire path in one go). It has been quite common to meet walkers doing small sections at a time. It sometimes takes them years to complete the whole path. It's so fun to stop and swap stories about our experiences. We met two different English couples doing the entire route today.

Dorchester is a tiny village with an historic abbey & museum that I should have gone to visit. It was so grey out that I just hovered in our room while David did his run.

Had a great conversation with one of the the employees of the pub. An 18 year old in his last year in school heading for university to study law. He is studying current politics in the US. Said he is very tired of the daily political turmoil and expressed his sympathy with our situation.

The chef at our accommodation was very agreeable and made us a meal filled with fresh veggies. He ran (literally) to get what he needed from the Co-op grocery store a couple blocks away. We were told later he was an apprentice to the owner who left a couple weeks ago.
