What a pleasure to be all on trails today. Hard surface mostly. Occasionally deep sandy gravel made me think I was a truck on one of those runaway truck ramps. You come to a dead stop pretty quickly.
The grade on the trail was very flat. 0% to 0.5% and -1% ...must have been a previous railway. Lost only about two hundred feet in over 40 miles.
Amsterdam is nothing like its namesake. There Isn't a flat spot in the whole town & of course our cheap hotel is out of town next to the freeway. Greater than 8% hills & lots of walking got us the last mile.

The shower is great, so I suppose it was worth the extra work to get here.
