40 mi.
The Erie Canal Heritage Trail is still a work in progress. It is expected to be more complete in the next 5 years. Hopefully someday they will connect the Canal in Seneca Falls to the Erie, that would make the 10 miles ride to get there better.
The path disappeared today, becoming a grassy, little used path and then gone, so I was grateful I had prepared the route ahead of time using Ride with GPS. We had no trouble getting through the areas where the towpath no longer exists.
David and I have gotten down the routine that happens on these long distance rides. We put our stuff together, enjoy breakfast together, load our bikes, ride: snack during our ride ( we don't hurry, just enjoy the scenery together) get to our hotel, eat some dinner then sleep.
