Day 15: Slavonice, Czech Republic

86.6 km
We are definitely in a different country halfway round the world. Everything that felt so familiar in The Netherlands and Germany isn't here. Czech Republic's less populated area is lush and green.

Ride details

We had some great riding through forests on paved paths. Met some Austrian women at a site of a former German settlement under restoration who kindly explained it since there weren't any signs in English.

We stopped in Slavonice and Mary found a cheap but clean hotel. No uphill ride to get to it. We were a few feet away in the square taking advantage of the free wifi for visitors. Facades on all the buildings look like Renaissance period. The village has strict rules about how the outside can't be changed.

Feels and looks like rain but the forecast is for overcast.

The rest of our journey in the Czech Republic on the Praha-Wien Greenway will take us near the Austrian border along the former Iron Curtain.

No wifi at lodging so I won't upload this until tomorrow.
