Day 13: last day 33 mi

3 of us went our separate ways today & 6 will continue to mile 0 of the C&O.
I decided to stay on the south side of the Potomac. It was 45 miles to mi 0 and then at least 10 more to my destination. I kind of wished I done that, instead of riding 33 by myself. I used a rail to trail route called the W'OD, Washington Old Dominion. The pavement was great, but I had forgotten the rollers from my previous 2 rides here. Had to walk a couple of times because my bike probably weighs more than 75 pounds. 1396 ft elevation gain. But my legs are strong from riding for two weeks so it wasn't too bad. Stopped for lunch at a Whole Foods right next to the bike path.
Now our little adventure is over. I think we all enjoyed each other's company. No drama, just jolly companionship. Our group of 10 included 2 in their 80's including our SAG driver, 2 in their 60's and the rest in their 70's, 8 Bike Fridays and one cheap mountain bike to be donated at the end of the ride.
Gerda planned the trip while Allen took the lead and navigated us to our lodgings.
Next time I do this I will plan to stay in one of the lock houses, stay in most of the same B&Bs, do about the same miles each day and do it with David. Anyone else interested, let me know. Washington DC is a pretty awesome destination.
Nic enjoys food as much as I do, so Ethiopian food at Injera Restaurant was on our list.
