Day 3: to West Newton. 28 mi

Started the day with our tour guide (he left us at at Boston) taking us through the twists and turns of a meandering route through the industrial area outside of Pittsburgh. This entire area is still struggling to revive itself in the aftermath of the steel industry's exodus. Ed (our guide) said that the population finally leveled in the last couple of years after many years of a decline. In McKeesport the path turned to run along the Youghiogheny River. In it's heyday McKeesport's population was 100,000 it is now 15,000.
We stop at interpretive signs and geographic wonders. So fun to be with such a companionable group with tons of knowledge and experience, makes this a very enjoyable ride. No hurry! Yeah!
