Day 29: Passau, Germany

18.5 km    Click here for ride details
Drizzled the whole ride, which was short, so we could wash clothes and clean bikes in Passau.

Passau is where I am exchanging riding buddies. Mary is leaving and Dana starts riding with me tomorrow. I am experiencing mixed emotions with this change, I'll just have to get used to it. Mary and I are the same age and enjoy plodding along together, enjoying the scenery & the people we meet. We ran into a group on a bicycle tour from Minneapolis this morning. It was so fun to talk to them about their experiences. Makes me a bit homesick.

I experienced today like a rest day. I did laundry...that is the hotel did it. Even folded it and delivered to my room. I washed my bike and oiled the chain, again due to the kindness of the hotel staff. Put together a box of extra weight and sent it off to the Netherlands. My heavy bag is now food.

New buddy, new routine for doing things. I'm so grateful to both Mary and Dana for riding along with me on this trip. Couldn't do all of this if I was alone.

Passau is at the junction of 3 rivers. The Inn river runs into the Danube and more than doubles its size. It was a torrent today, after the rain of the last 24 hours.
