Day 24: Budapest, Hungary

30.9 km
Garmin stopped in midstream so route is in two parts.
Part 1 details

Part 2 details

It's smoggy and hot so probably not the best time to be here.
We spent the day pondering our options for return to Vienna. I would love seeing the Danube from a boat, but the logistics for doing that and then return to Vienna became too complicated, so we have opted for a simple fast train to Vienna.
In our wanderings around Budapest we came upon this wonderful fountain (there is an island in the middle of the Danube)

We are staying at a hostel on the fifth floor. Good thing there is an elevator(reminds me of the Grand Budapest Hotel).

Budapest is very old with a crumbling sidewalks, rough streets & buildings in need of a facelift.

Lots of huge Soviet Era apartment buildings.

Hot sticky, train, no air conditioning.
