Nothing open in Harpers Ferry as we left, even though it was after 9. After Labor Day everything seems to shut down on weekdays. Too bad, since this is the best time to ride. No bugs, cool weather. Not too much rain. We certainly picked the right time.
The C&O is a treasure of history between 1828-1924. It was built by skilled hands, but was never very successful with the railroad competing from the start.
