Day 7: to Yazoo City

52.6 mi
In order to avoid traffic we go on back roads and don't see much of a city unless it is a rest/layover day. So we are often routed through neighborhoods, many of them extremely poor. Vicksburg is right on the river, so expected a great ride as we left town. Unfortunately, the river banks were overgrown with weeds, dilapidated buildings and a busy highway.
Most of the ride was on LA 3 a busy 2 lane highway used by trucks moving goods. No shoulder. Truckers moved over and gave us a wide margin, though.

Yazoo City was hit by 2 tornadoes in 2010 and a flood in 2011. It has had a recovery with economic development that surpasses other Mississippi towns. We'll miss the newly painted downtown, but there are pictures in our room literature.
