Day 10: to Memphis

84.0 mi
Left Clarksdale at crack of dawn with a headwind and a sprinkling of moisture. Rode toward Memphis on Hwy 3, an old poorly maintained highway with little traffic or shoulder. The cooler overcast day made the ride easier. We stopped every 10 miles to rehydrate and have a break (a "BB", you"ll have to figure that one out). The SAG was a stop every 20 miles and a very welcome site.
At 79 miles Monika had a flat.

She was so proud since it was her first ever "opportunity". She had only one tube with her and even though Womantours said they would have tubes available for multiple size tires, I imagined they only had the most common size. So it was inevitable that she would have another flat. In hindsight, I should have just patched it. Anyway, we called the SAG for a lift (actually we hoped they had a tube). No tube, so we loaded our bikes and then the Subaru wouldn't start. Called AAA, waited. While we were waiting. 40-60 minute wait, we decided to entertain ourselves and with a tire patching lesson which is what i should have done in the first place. The SAG driver tried the car again and it started. Canceling AAA, we "sagged" in the last 6 miles.
It was really a good ride, with a fierce headwind from miles 40 to 60 the magic of drafting made it doable.

A memorable Mother's Day for sure. The greetings from Liana and Nic that made my Day.
