Learned lots about the almost 800 favelas (crowded dilapidated houses on the hillsides) from our guide on a 4-hour bus ride. He said some of the houses that are in favelas are not so bad inside & lots of the electricity is hijacked from nearest wires. That's why the wires look so disorganized and disheveled.
