Traveled up River Platte overnight from Montevideo. They claim this is the widest river in the world. I guess because it is fresh water. It looks very brown, but Buenos Aires uses it for drinking water after the sediment is separated.
This is definitely a big city. Looks larger than Rio, economically thriving with a mix of old and new. There are 37 shanty towns with the largest containing 40,000.
We glided into a huge working port with multiple slips and docked next to an oil refinery.
