Day 47-18: Boppard, DE

64.4 km (Dana says 79.7 km)

Ride details

Rain, but we avoided it entirely by starting late. It worked great to have Mary riding with us,too.

Rode on the right bank for the first time. Both sides are in Germany now. It was mostly a paved path. Caught a ferry and crossed over to the left bank in Bingen.

This was just before the area called The Rhein Gorge. The sides narrow with cliffs or hills. There is a road or a wide path next to a road. Making the experience wonderful riding.

The only negative was a very strong headwind that made the riding quite tough. Mary and I decided that this was our payback for having so many tailwind days.

Since we no longer have a bikeline book for guidance we had to pay attention to the routing signs, no getting lost today.
