April 19 Rest Day

Beach Club condominiums

In Dauphin Island, Alabama

I'm staying with Rita,, Katie, JoAnn B, Amy, and Sue
Walked to the center of the island.  Bakery is closed on Mondays and the two stores with groceries had minimal choices.  Potato, can of beans and tomatoes are what I found for my lunch later.  Met Rita, JoAnn B, and Sue on the way back, so I took a side trip with them on the island shuttle and had a great tour of the island from end to end.  I didn't remember that there was a ferry from the east end of the island.  Burl, the bus driver explained that it was put in after Frederick, the 1979 hurricane that wiped out the only bridge to the island.  It took til 1982 to get it rebuild the bridge that we rode across to get to the island from the north yesterday.  The ferry remains in operation and provides and eastern access to the island.

Spent the rest of the day reading Anne Butler's book and just hung out and rested to prepare for the next 5 days.
