Last night we navigated through the Beagle Channel and then back northeast to the Magellan Straits. Our shore day was a port in Magellan Straits, a major stopping point before the Panama Canal was built. Now has 100,000 people with the tourist season the primary industry. You can tell by the conditions of the buildings that weather is harsh here. Rain all summer and snow in the winter. With temp in the 40's in the summer, it's a warm day. It is the most southern city in Chile and a jumping off point for Antarctica.
We went on a bus tour of the highlights on a drizzly rainy very cold (40's) day. The best highlight was buying a stocking cap in a terminal shop that the proprietor has made! Orange & Black.
