I love this trail. One side is the Canal tow path and the other side is quiet countryside. Saw tons of cornfields headed for ethanol today. The Canal is historic , it has been widened and upgraded several times in it's history. Still could be used if there was a need, so it is primarily a tourist attraction.
We met a sheriff's deputy along the way who took our picture. It was after the rain so we looked pretty droopy. He was doing a survey & slideshow (I'm guessing to get his boss re-elected).
David said he clocked me at 17 mph when I saw the rain storm was inevitable. But were didn't avoid it and got poured on.
The flat Canal surface directly on our right looked like a wind swept street as the storm with thunder and over 15 knot winds swept over us from behind. Fortunately we have waterproof jackets that kept us mostly dry. It was like riding in a warm shower.
Our hotel was a welcome sight. We are both exhausted. 57 miles.
Microwave in the hotel provided baked potato & broccoli for me and a potato, avacado, hummus, cashew cheese and grapes from Wegmans for David.
