Day 13: Praha (Prague), Czech Republic

55.5 km  Ride details

We certainly are doing this ride without taxing ourselves too much.
We usually start after 8 and if you convert to miles we haven't done much over 60 miles.

I love these bike paths even when they are rough, but Mary prefers the road, so whenever we loose the trail we ride on a road I think to Mary's joy.

Czech drivers are more like home.
Bicyclists have no rights here, so the roads are a bit dangerous, no bike lanes, ever. The difference upon leaving Germany was quite obvious.
From the little we've seen, males seem to dominate this culture. Where are all the women? Maybe at home being domestic. Just an observation of the few places we have seen. This weekend is a holiday, so today we started seeing some families.

Our host family has 4 boys. Tomás is our guide and fixed latkes for us for dinner. We will tour Prague with him in the morning. He is a university student and avid bicyclist and gave us advice on how to continue our trip to Budapest. Hopefully someday he will visit Oregon so we can return his kindness.

A memorial to John Lennon, begun under the communist era.
