Day 1: Pittsburgh to West Newton

34.2 mi.
Mostly along the Monongahela & Youghiogheny Rivers. (Try saying that out-loud).Flat easy hard packed limestone dirt trail.

Looking bleary eyed.

Amtrak pulled into Pittsburgh at 5:20 am. So after pulling our bicycles from the Amtrak box, straightening the handlebars and putting on peddles we were on the way. It was still dark when left the station and just light as we found the trail.
This is going to be a pretty easy ride. My Trek FX hybrid is very comfortable after I added a new rear cassette & had James from the Bike Gallery do a fit session. I'm a believer.



Staying at Bright Morning B & B in West Newton, PA. Everything is a hundred - 200 years older than what we are used to seeing in the west. B & B owner is a trained Chef.
