From Wickenburg to Phoenix
68.1 mi
time: 6:18:19
Didn't think Phoenix would ever get here. Left a bit late this morning so rode with different members of the group. The ones that ride just as fast, but do a lot of stopping for pictures and socializing. Started on Hwy 60 which was like a freeway leaving Wickenburg with rough shoulder and lots of debris. After about 8 miles got onto a quieter and better Hwy 74 that took us through amazing Suguaro "forest". I never seem to get tired of seeing them. They are protected, so can't be cut down or harmed. The one s with arms are most likely over 100 years old. Came into the area via Scottsdale and seemed to just go on forever. I don't think they have an urban growth boundary here. There is still a lot of open land, but their is obvious planning to fill it all. Had to ride the last 18 miles on city bike lanes (Sonoma-Phoenix Byway) Not pleasant riding.
Trailer brakes needed repair so we had to eat out at a Mexican restaurant for dinner. Not as good at Linda's meals.
