To dip our back wheels in the Pacific. I forgot to put the SD card in my camera, so didn't take any pictures (duh, that won't happen again!) I'll have to see if I can get any from others who took pics.
San Diego to Alpine CA

Alpine elevation: 1601 ft.
Beautiful sunny day, gradual climb. About half the ride was in the city. Left main highway to go through Mission Trails Park, then through less populated area, but still lots of traffic to get to Alpine.
I was in the first groups getting in so we had to wait for the van to bring our bags and get cleaned up. Pretty easy first day.
