Nanaimo

Visited Nanaimo to see our friend Rich. David has been up here several times, but I've never come with him.
Rich met us at the hotel so we took a leisurely return drive including a cute ferry ride across a bay.
The weather was grey and rainy. ( a beautiful 2/3 rainbow could be seen from the deck of Rich's condo one afternoon).

We went to a fish hatchery simulating a natural stream filled with returning salmon.

We ate lots of good food & went to a "name that tune" event at the Dinghy Dock pub a ferry ride away across the bay on Protection Island. The island has about 350 permanent residents. Gravel roads, few cars...most use golf carts. Fun to look back at Nanaimo with the lighted night skyline.
