61.6 miles with a bit of a detour at the start to buy a new back tire. When we started out my bike was making an unusual noise. When we looked closely I realized I had a shredded tire. Fortunately we hadn't gone far and fortunately with a third phone call I found a shop where the owner, Glenn answered and said he had a 20 inch tire in stock and he would meet us at his shop. Lucky us, Glenn was a generous & skilled bicycle mechanic. Anyone ever need a good bicycle shop with a skilled mechanic and specializes in touring bikes, check out the shop on 511 N 18th in Richmond, Virginia.
The Virginia Capital trail is paved all the way from Richmond to Jamestown Settlement, but there was a lot of debris, one tree across the path & way too many hills. We arrived at our hotel in Williamsburg after dark, feeling very tired and disoriented. Fortunately a good nights sleep fixes a lot of potentially poor decision making and with a day of rest we will happily reverse the route to return to Richmond on Wednesday.
